Overview

Crew gift apparel for two Disney+ series I worked on at The Third Floor: Hawkeye in 2021 and Obi-Wan Kenobi in 2022. Each show marks its wrap with a piece made for the people who built it, and the designs are chosen from internal submissions. Both of mine were selected and produced: a purple track jacket for Hawkeye, a black zip hoodie for Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Challenge

These are licensed properties, so each show had to be unmistakable while staying inside its existing title treatment and logo rules. But crew apparel that reads like gift-shop merchandise does not get worn, so the pieces also had to hold up as clothing. That meant sizing artwork for a chest and a back panel rather than a rectangle, keeping the front legible but small, and picking colors that hold on fabric instead of only on screen. Each design also had to win. I was competing against other submissions before anything went into production.

Approach

Each piece takes its tone from its show. Hawkeye is the lighter of the two, so it became a purple track jacket built around the show's Tracksuit Mafia. The logo sits small on the chest up front, and on the back it opens into a bullseye around Lucky, winking, with an arrow in his mouth. The crew line runs underneath in the show's yellow, lowercase and rounded, matching the Hawkeye logo.

Obi-Wan Kenobi went the other way. The back is a single Tatooine sunset framed inside Vader's helmet: two suns, a silhouette of Obi-Wan in the foreground, the homestead on the horizon, and nothing else. The copper title sits below it and again on the left chest.
